For the foodies! Fresh food and great dining experiences are synonymous with Bright and its surrounding towns, villages and countryside.

Expect hatted restaurants, cooking schools, coffee roasters and a strong café culture. Japanese, Thai, Italian and modern Australian menus are created with local produce. Throughout the region you can indulge degustation dinners, tapas, true Italian pizza and incredible pub grub.

Prime beef, top notch dairy, nuts of all kinds, berries, tomatoes, herbs, stone and citrus fruits, apples, olives, all kinds of vegetables like sweet corn and asparagus and of course grapes, grow happily in this slice of heaven. Produce markets and visiting farm gates are a great way to sample seasonal fresh food as well as locally made jams and preserves, chocolate, oils and ice-creams.

• Mount Beauty Community Market – first Saturday of the month

Bright and the surrounding area boasts a number of gourmet businesses creating fine bespoke products such as chocolate, pumpkin seed oil and olive oils. Fine chutneys and jams created with the freshest produce grown in the valleys, along with sweet treats like ice-cream and fudge.

Great local food is also celebrated at a number of not-to-be-missed festivals held throughout the year where cooking and tasting classes with leading chefs and winemakers are regular highlights.
